Welcome to Budokan

We have been established for 40 years in the UK and you can visit our Archive to view the many activities and social events that have taken place during this time.

Our Members enjoy a progressive syllabus of disciplines, available to them exclusively, which enables them to be graded upon invitation only, by the teachers and instructors in the various clubs where they attend their regular classes and events.

At the March Workshop

We began with stances – their width, their length and their height and the difference between them in kata and kumite and a simple method of establishing this exactly.

We moved on to the dynamics of movement – in a push push method for going forward in nanamedachi and zenkutsudachi and a push settle method for nekoashidachi and a push rotate method for shikudachi.  In each case, it was interesting to see how much ‘telegraphing’ was going on – right across the grades – instead of one movement from point to point – there were many prior to movement.

In kata this would count as an additional movement and in kumite it would negate the attack.
